You’ve Had Too Many Windows Open for Too Long

Right now, there are programs running in the background of your day that you never chose to install.

They came from teachers, from family, from rooms full of people who wanted a version of you that took real effort to produce. You learned to run them all at once, quietly, while doing your actual job.

Eventually, the whole system slows down. Then it freezes.

Most of the adults I work with arrive at that point in their thirties, forties, or fifties, often a year or two after someone finally tells them they’re autistic or have ADHD. My work with you is sorting out which of those programs are yours, letting go of the messages that came with the rest, and freeing up room to run what you want.

Nothing Here Will Catch You Off Guard

For someone who has spent a lifetime reading a room for what’s coming next, the unknown is the trigger. A sanctuary for a mind like that has to be predictable, so I take the unknown out of the room.

You’ll know the plan. Goals get set out loud, you get the reasoning behind every suggestion I make, and before I try anything with you, even something small, I ask permission first. No is always a real answer.

You are not a patient to be managed.

I do listen, but I don’t just sit and listen. You’ll try something in the session, agree to test it during the week, and come back with what happened. The whole design respects the urgency of your time and the complexity of your mind.

Map Your Wiring, Then Clear the Way

Roughly half of the neurodivergent adults in my practice were diagnosed by me first. Autism and ADHD testing happens here over video. What comes out of it is a working map of how your particular brain handles attention, input, and effort.

Noticing is always the first step. Plenty of the people I work with can describe exactly what happened to them and still can’t name what they’re feeling while it’s happening, so we build that skill first.

Then we clear what’s in the way. EMDR and the Flash Technique settle the old memories that hook you and pull you away from who you want to be, and the Flash work, in particular, gets there without asking you to relive the details.

Somatic methods keep your body in the conversation while we do it. What all of that clears room for is your values, which work here like a North Star – something to steer by on the days the old programs start loading again.

Thirty Years In, One Moment Still Keeps Me Here

I call it the Unmasking Breakthrough, and it arrives when a client finally understands the “why” behind a lifetime of struggle. Self-blame stops, accommodations that fit your brain start going in, and the shift after that is profound.

The greatest fulfillment in my work comes from creatives: athletes, artists, performers, and high-level professionals ready to untangle their past and build a values-driven future. Almost all of them have been in therapy before.

The Training Behind Your Sessions

My training started in family systems, which is still how I see a room, even when only one person is sitting in it. CBT came next. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy arrived 15 to 20 years ago and has been the frame ever since, with EMDR, the Flash Technique, and somatic methods as the tools I use within it.

For more than 25 years, I’ve trained doctoral students in psychotherapy and psychological testing, and I’ve presented mental health workshops to professionals, teachers, and parents.

Guitars, Dogs, and a Soft Spot for Werewolves

I believe that to help others find their flow, I have to stay connected to my own. Outside the office, I’m usually playing guitar or banjo, hiking with my wife and our dogs, or losing an evening to genre fiction – I have a particular soft spot for all things vampire and werewolf. There is something deeply compelling about stories of transformation, hidden identities, and the struggle to integrate one’s true nature – themes that, in many ways, mirror the work we do in the therapy room.
