The Session Where You Have Nothing to Report

Complex Trauma & PTSD Recovery

A settled, quiet portrait moment reflecting complex trauma recovery work.

One Day You’ll Arrive with Nothing to Start On

For most of the months we work together, you’ll come in already knowing what we’re starting with: a week that went sideways, a memory that showed up uninvited, a conversation you keep running.

Then one day you sit down, and there’s nothing waiting.

You tell me you don’t really know what we’re going to talk about today, because everything’s going fine.

That session is the one I aim for from the day we start, and it’s built from things you can recognize before you get there.

Reclaiming Your Daily Presence

The goal is to reach a point where you can acknowledge difficult memories without them dictating your entire day. As you build new skills, you’ll find more space for relationships and activities that matter to you. You move from a place of obligation and survival toward a sense of mastery and intentional living.

A Different Approach for Complex Trauma

Many who come here have previously engaged in therapeutic work that didn’t yield the desired results. Complex trauma often requires a specialized focus. We begin by reviewing your history – not just to recount events, but to understand how your system has adapted and where previous approaches may have missed the mark.

Moving Toward the Life You Want

Most people arrive wanting the same thing: to stop the anxiety or the flashbacks. While relief is a natural part of the process, we focus on something more expansive. Instead of just aiming to ‘not feel’ distress, we work toward what you want your life to look like when you are present. We look at how memories impact your daily life and help you regain the agency to choose how you spend your time and energy.

Understanding the Timeline of Your Recovery

It is natural to wonder how long this process will take. Because every person’s history is unique, we will discuss a realistic timeframe during our initial conversation.

Generally, single-incident trauma or acute panic responses show significant improvement within three months. For complex trauma – which often develops over many years – the process typically spans six months to a year. This is a commitment to yourself, and the work we do in each session is designed to be manageable, consistent, and impactful.

Progress Through Small, Sustainable Shifts

We integrate evidence-based protocols like EMDR to help process what has been stuck. Clients often describe their progress not as a single ‘aha’ moment, but as a series of small, meaningful shifts. Over time, you will notice that you are navigating your life with more ease, presence, and capacity than before.

Start by Describing the Session You Want to End Up In

The first of those moves is a 15-minute call that I don’t bill for.

Tell me what your version of everything’s going fine looks like, and I’ll tell you honestly what it would take.
